Kitchen Fire

Kitchen Fire

Unattended cooking is the leading cause of cooking fires, responsible for one-third of them. Frying is the number one activity associated with cooking fires. Cooking oil or grease can easily catch fire if it gets too hot and because frying is typically done in an open pan, a fire can spread easily once it starts.

Mold due to HVAC Unit

Mold due to HVAC Unit

This was a commercial mold remediation caused by the HVAC unit. The vent cover was removed; wiped out and treated the return and cleaned both vents. HEPA vacuumed the walls and ceilings as well as book shelves, desk and light fixtures; and then wet washed the book shelves, walls and ceilings.

Commercial Mold

Commercial Mold

This apartment was affected by heavy moisture and mold because the tenant left for a long period of time and left the air conditioning unit off. This affected the ceiling, walls, closet, and the carpet, totaling about 540 square footage.

Mold Remediation

Mold Remediation

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

Mold Problems

Mold Problems

Besides causing a major business interruption, a mold problem can present a serious health risk for people exposed at your commercial property. Mold infestations can be caused by minor water intrusions, like a slow roof leak or loose plumbing fitting. Every hour spent cleaning up is an hour of lost revenue and productivity. If you suspect your property has a mold problem, call  SERVPRO of Shelby County, who will respond quickly and work fast to manage the situation.

What are smoke webs?

Residues (such as burning plastics or the soot from furnace disorders) form long chains of ionized smoke particles that assemble in corners and/or at junctions of walls and ceilings.
